Approaching Ascension

Tune: St Leonards

('May the mind of Christ my Saviour')

John 16 v.25-28 and v.33

**********

Jesus said, I tell you plainly

I did come forth, here now see

From the Father into the world

Now His plan unfurled

And I again shall to Him go

In my Ascension, this know

Shall go to my Father again

Soon it would be then

For He would His Father's will do

Life of Him, God's Son, we view

Risen from death, forth days more

He showed on earth sure

Though He did go, we may still pray

He will still hear us today

As promised, the Spirit He sent

Us, that His intent

He speaks to us, that peace we may

Have in Him from day to day

In the world troubles, but good cheer

He has o'ercome here

Did Fido write this? He's at it again you know, telling people what Jesus said when he wasn't even there to hear it. It'll all end in tears my friend.

Thanks dusk. Fido helped me write it yes. I admit I may 'put some words in people's mouths' to get the poetry to match and rhyme.
He did say it, so He did (bit Irish there, lol). Well, most of it, if you look up the verses.

Good read, Orchi. Shout out to Fido.

that's almost another year behind me then ...
I must confess, I do find the biblical calendar most interesting Mr O.

Thanks Neville. I'm somewhat 'traditional', observing the Church Calendar, with Sundays, Saints Days, etc. But not as much as, say, Roman Catholics, with their many Saints Days. Some churches don't even know the church has a calendar!
Yes, Ascension soon - a gravity-defying feat. You ascended? You took off in a cloud, or puff of smoke?!

............................................ I like to imagine that I'm closer to enlightenment than I was this time last year ... Neville
