('Lord Jesus, think on me')

Philippians 4 v.4-7

*********

Rejoice in the Lord e'er

He does His comforts share

Let all know your moderate life

In trusting Christ, no strife

The Lord He is at hand

Near to all of each land

Be anxious for nothing, but let

Him know your requests yet

In prayer, supplication

People of each nation

And with thanksgiving, so God shall

Keep your hearts and minds well

He shall keep them, 'tis through

Christ Jesus, and renew

Us with His peace, fret not mind, heart

He shall not from us part

So turmoil, fear, worry

Shall flee assuredly

Though God knows all, we may here pray

He reveals His will, way

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. metre. The hymn is very old, from about the 5th Century AD. This is not really about world peace, but is in the 'rogation-tide' theme of asking in prayer.

Your knowledge of the history of Psalms is extremely interesting as it shows through time we all experience the same life challenges regardless of modern living.

        you can beat an egg
        you can beat a carpet
and you can beat around the bush
but you just can't beat a bit of peace now can ya ..... and the more the merrier, if you ask me ....
