Out on the road today
I saw another driver waiting
To pull out of a side street
So, I slowed down while waving
He smiled back at me
With a thumbs up said, “Thank you”
I smiled back at him
Gave him a thumbs up too
Walking into Dunkin Donuts
I said hello to an elderly man
He tripped and fell to the ground
I helped him back up to stand
It might be a stranger
Someone you’ve never met
Smile with a cheerful hello
See the returned smile you get
When you see a lady
Needing a helping hand
Give of yourself
With a smile she’ll understand
Of everything we do
If we did it with a smile
And just a touch of love
We’d watch it spread across the miles
At sight of a sad face
Breath in, then exhale
Turn that frown upside down
Lets try to tip the scale
If we could embrace the world as one
Corrupt global sadness
Turn it around for everyone
Instill global gladness
Notice if you will
When you go out today
A little kindness
Goes a long way

what a refreshingly positive and defiantly hopeful message, you've shared!
but always good to practise
cautionary awareness of self and our surroundings
within any situation we face
see, results care little for intensions
and our actions can be misconstrued and misunderstood
so easily this days, best - then, I think
to judge any situation individually
and merit your decision making, accordingly..
(sorry for my sombre tone, just sad
when we read and see well intentioned people
naively being caught-up, in events they misjudged
assuming, goodness will prevail
without: right action, to spearhead
delivery of the results we want...!)
Thanks for the read and comment LB. ; )
Good write AP.
Thanks Orchi. ; )
Lovely poem ! 🙂 nice words here . Kindness is so important
Thank you Rose. Always appreciate your comments. ; )
Great, I held the door open for a middle aged lady with a young child (probably her grandchild I thought). THe lady pulled a face as she passed and quietly snarned "chauvinist". Hmm I thought. If chauvinism be the irrational belief that one is superior to another, I guess one of us just showed the upper hand in manners and grace there. Smiling, I continued to hold the door for the next two people to pass through undeterred.
A great message in your words today, though many are in such a single minded rush that they are unable take part, it is good to hold the door and clear the way for them too.
Some people are never satisfied. Thanks da.
Wonderful words and so very true, I like to think that I am like that and will help with a smile where I can.
"Smile, it confuses people!"
Andy
Only problem is that Orchi sees people smiling and he thinks they're enjoying his singing. ; )
