Tune: McAfee
('There is a place of quiet rest')
Psalm 57 parts
*********
O God, be merciful to me
My soul trusts in you, see
Yes, in the shadow of your wings
My refuge, my souls sings
Chorus
O God, be you exalted
Enemies you down tread
You above the heavens high
Glorious o'er earth, nigh
I will cry unto God most high
He knows my trouble, sigh
He shall for me things perform all
Unto Him shall I call - Chorus
He shall from heaven help me send
From enemies defend
They that would me sure destroy here
But your mercy, truth near - Chorus
My heart is fixed, O God, I will
Sing and give praises still
Awake, my tongue, harp, psaltery
I will arise early - Chorus
I will praise you midst the people
Among the nations all
For your mercy is great unto
Heavens, truth to clouds too - Chorus

clearly a hymn poem but rarely have I been so conscious, or aware of the change in metre when it comes to the chorus .. it threw me the first time round and had to start again from the beginning ...
Erm, you all at 6's and 7's in the Chorus then, and even some 8's in the Verses?! 8.6.8.6. is called Common Metre (C.M.) but 7.6.7.6. ain't!
Oohh, if ya sung it twice - or more - no matter. Carry on singing! lol.
Good one Orchi
Thanks Gold.
