Cloud Illusions

Rebeccaclara

Today as the dark nimbus clouds swirl above my head,

I lay on the damp grass and close my eyes,

And in that moment the clouds sweep me up into their vast beauty,

And take me on a journey where I am dancing on light cirrus clouds,

All luminous pink and whispery like beautiful threads,

That weave through my mind making it light,

And my heart starts to open and my mind feels bright.

But when I open my eyes I feel the wetness reach my bones,

And the darkness makes my limbs heavy and the murkiness fills my mind,

And the swirling patterns spin round and round, impossible to decipher,

They’re a tangle of frustrating paths that leave me feeling tired.

I don’t know how to escape the pain, this pain that makes me gasp,

I thought you’d lie beside me and we would journey together,

But it was all just cloud illusions, and I should have known better.

Very expressive but sad words Rebecca - I too often gaze at clouds and sometimes see shapes of faces and mythical creatures etc.

  • Goldfinch60

Very good words Rebecca, each cloud is unique and the one for you will be there for you.

The good thing about clouds is they're always changing, bringing you a new perspective every time you look up. Great write Rebecca. ; )
