Tune: St Hugh
('Lord teach us how to pray aright')
Psalm 86 v.15-17
*********
You, O Lord God, are a God full
Of compassion, grace all
Longsuffering, and plenteous
In mercy, truth to us
O turn to me, and have mercy
On me here, even me
Give your strength unto your servant
Before you penitent
Show me a sign for good, I pray
That they who do today
hate me may see it, be ashamed
What they against me framed
So shall I have known your help sure
And too your comfort pure
Trusting in you, teach me your way
Now and through every day

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. This delightful video appeared when I did a search. A 'shorty' (comparatively) for today.
