Land of shattered hearts, broken promises and lies
Where the land gives way to fire before in the cold, for it there are cries
There’s ash from the eruption, trees stand sparse and stark black and the skies
Have retreated into cold darkness with stars telling legends of a generous, agonizing demise
To few survivors who have come to realize
What were thought to be painful disasters when they happened were in truth highs
Staring at the horizon despite knowing with their all that, here, there is no way to make for a sunrise

- Comment from author about the poem: For those familiar with my poems and possibly concerned I've fallen into a hard place as far as habits and world views go, rest assured, I have not.

Re comment Well good luck - will be interesting to see how you go....
In a month, I will have gone a year with only one serious anger incident. I can't pretend that excuses the one serious incident I have had, but it's progress at least and I did fairly good against my history during that one incident. But I still do look behind and think of the people I hurt and relationships I destroyed.
Good for you. But perhaps you still might consider some professional counselling to find the reasons rather than just suppression. Anyway, I wish you well.
