Diogenes.

Goldfinch60

Throughout his life he searched,

He looked everywhere trying to find one.

Even in daylight he carried a light

To try and find that one person,

That one person he could trust.

Throughout his life he looked,

Diogenes spent his life

Looking for an honest man.

    A fine write Gold.
Did we meet him in 1066? Was he around then?
He thought he met an honest man in a politician. But then - he opened his mouth? We knows the rest.

      Very true.

Did old D. live in a barrel? We should try it maybe. lol. Bit cramped in there. Ahh, he lived to 81 then. So maybe there is something to be said for it. Lets get our barrels out.

So why was he dropped from Eastenders?

          • Goldfinch60

            What's Eastenders?

            • dusk arising

The collected gospels known as eastenders is a moral teaching conduit appropriate to our times. Unlike the apparent writings of a supreme omnipotent being it lacks contradiction and bigotry in it's teaching though encompasses the reality of societies woes.

You do make it hard sometimes, Andy - now I know I've been around a fair while, but he was a bit before my time....however if you had mentioned Zorba, I might have been able to contribute something constructive to this particular collumn.......

              • Goldfinch60

Did you actually dance with Zorba. https://youtu.be/2AzpHvLWFUM

Actually,....no, Andy. But in '67 I did do (or attempt) the dance one evening in a taverna during my Greek travels. Couldn't do the knee work today....

Yes Andy, there are some of us out there. Some of us here in MPS too. I've always loved this song. Never heard it by Willie Nelson before, just Roy Clark, but beautiful to listen to. And your poem perfectly reflects the song. ; )

                  Beautiful song, beautiful writing.
