TWILIGHT

Jayasree

Perched on the windowsill,

I watched the Sun setting.

The shadows deepening

Twilight falling.

The dusk painting the sky

in myriad hues.

There's a longing in me,

a poignant desire,

to hold onto the

last of the Sun's rays.

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem holds a special place in my heart. I first started writing poems when I was in college. But I stopped writing in between and it was recently, 2 years back to be precise, that I again started writing. This poem was the first one I wrote, after a long gap of 40 years.

Those sun rays will always be with you at the beginning of each new day.

A very positive outlook. Yes, always look forward to each new day, to the Sun rising and filling the earth with golden sunlight. I pray to the sun every day and bow my head before the life giver.

'The shadows deepening, dusk painting the sky: a longing in me,
Twilight falling in myriad hues: a poignant desire,'
as enthralling a read, as that idyllic twilight you depict..
my, what a gifted Poet you are
thank you for choosing to share, your unquestionable talent..
      (please, forgive me
for rearranging your lines a little, I sincerely meant no disrespect
just couldn't control my overzealous, selfish - desire
to share with you how your poetry, spoke to me)
