Sentimentality.

Goldfinch60

It’s just one of those things,

One of those things in life.

Some people are afraid,

Afraid of showing their emotions.

The tears are kept inside them

To show to others how strong they are.

Sometimes though the tears flow

Through sadness,

Or through happiness.

When this happens never apologise,

As showing that emotions are within you

Shows you have a big heart

And are not afraid,

Not afraid to let others see it.

As showing your emotions

Is a sign of the strength within you.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I always show my emotions. The piece of music "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" was one of my fathers favourite pieces and we had it played at his funeral, seventeen years later I also had it played at my mother's funeral and I am convinced that I saw them dancing together during this piece.

    A fine write Gold.
Meanwhile - do they weep tears of joy, or of anguish, when I begin to sing?! heehee.

      Thanks Orchi.

I just put my earplugs in!

With you all the way, Andy. Where appropriate make yourself vulnerable - how the other reacts is a good test (ensure you have a safe exit should things go pear shaped).

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you Dave. I know I will have a safe exit when the time comes.

'Shows you have a big heart
                And are not afraid,
Not afraid to let others see it.'
you seemingly have such an intuitive feel
for when to utilise repetition, with purposed intent
                and not as some get-out-of-jail
                forcedly enforced: rhyme scheme...
makes a huge difference, at least for me
and underlines, just why so many
can relate to your artistic integrity
so easily, thanks for sharing Andy
