Tune: Hawkhurst
('Come, gracious Spirit, heavenly dove')
James 3 v.13-18
*********
Who is wise and who is endued
With knowledge, and has it pursued?
Let each show out of a good life
Works with meekness, wisdom, no strife
But if you have bitter envy
And strife in your hearts, not agree
Boast not, against the truth not lie
Or you be misled, gone awry
This wisdom comes not from above
Not from the Spirit, holy dove
But is earthly and sensual
Devilish, comes from evil all
But wisdom that is from above
God gives unto us in His love
It be pure, peaceable, gentle
Easily entreated of all
And it of mercy, good fruits full
Impartial, hypocrisy null
Fruit of righteousness sown in peace
Of them that make peace, never cease

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre. I have used the video before, as the hymn is not that well known, and it seemed one of the best to me.

Good words of advice for living in peace Orchi.
Thanks Fay.
I was imagining you quietly singing this to yourself as you wandered among the avoident congregation with an empty collection plate.
(Fido - wearing ear protectors - trained to pin non payers against the wall outside until they cough up their unused foreign coinery).
Thanks dusk. Yes, Fido helped too.
I showed by hypocrisy, saying 'Please contribute your dough to this cause of peace. If you don't I'll punch you on the nose!'
You can beat an egg, but ya just can't beat a bit o wisdom can ya ..
... you can bat an eyelid but if you bat a fish, you better have some salt n pepper handy ... Oh' and some chips ..
... Nice one Mr. O n truly ....
Neville
