your defences

dusk arising

When your defences
are all blown down
and shaking shoulders
turn you inside out,
with a storm of teardrops
falling from your eyes.
The very heart of
your young soul crying.

I'd be there
I'll be a rock for you.
Ask you for nothing
but to see it through.
Be your strength in this
your time of need.
Shine a smile of light
to plant a hopeful seed.

Tell you a story
of days long ago.
Of a certain me,
someone I used to know.
How life's misfortunes
somehow let me grow,
stepping out into
each new tomorrow.

When your defences
are all blown down
and shaking shoulders
turn you inside out.
I'd dry your tears
I'll be your rock that day.
Till a bright tomorrow
takes you on your way.

  • Fay Slimm.

A superb piece of tender encouragement - written in poetic styling to emphasise that a friend is near. A favourite with me for sure dear Dusk.

From the heart, sometimes you just cry out to help someone with genuinely no strings attached.

Cooee, I'll be there too - like a bad penny that turns up?! Or a nine-bob note. lol. (Remember ten-bob notes?). Ya won't get rid of me, though ya will say 'Oh no, not you again!'

      • dusk arising

Careful with that nine bob note reference Orchi. Back in the days when as schoolkids we called gay ppl 'queer' the phrase nine bob noter meant someone was gay i.e. theres nowt as queer as a nine bob note.

How about 'As weird as a £4 note' then? From a comedy show on telly.

you are a hero, indeed now you are mine ..
a splendid & most chivalrous post if ever there was ...........

            • dusk arising

On that note I'm riding my charger into the sunset of chivaly..... or was it a chivers jelly?...no..... thats my knees.
It's all make believe i'm as chivalrous as a heroin addict stealing your grandmas teeth.

            • Jerry Reynolds

            • Dove

We are so similar in our outlook, I have always been there for friends and family and at the moment being there for a friend who is really struggling in life.

I think it speaks of empathy, understanding and caring. We all fall off the tracks.
