THE BREAK UP

Andy Hunter

With tears in your eyes you try to smile
Guess we've known for quite a while
You say perhaps we need more space
And then you're gone without a trace
Maybe I'm lazy, never read the signs
The fire still burns, yet I'm frozen in time
So as promises fade you walk away
Foolishly believing you would always stay
Now I'm feeling empty and broken
So many words remain unspoken
I call and text, but get no reply
Never imagined this could be goodbye

You express the uglyness of being on the wrong side of a break-up well here.
Fortunately time has a magic healing balm for most of us and repairs all the suffering.

Thanks for your feedback 😃. Really appreciated

Very sad emotive words Andy but time is a great healer and all will be well.

That would be a gut wrencher, Andy.
The few break ups I've experienced haven't been that traumatic.
Not, I must quickly add, through any special skills I or partner (ex) could claim to have; more a matter of circumstance, really. And we've managed to remain (email) friends...and so on.
Can see perfectly, via your poem how stricken it must have made you feel.
All over, recollected from a distance?

Gladly this one is pure fiction Dave.
