The Influencer

SureshG

The influencer

06/08/2021

Greed, is the motivator that,

which oils the mechanism of action.

Survival, is only the initiator, that

soon succumbs to wants’ affliction

It’s a fallacy to believe, or

convince ourselves otherwise

but, wants not needs

becomes, driver of possessions

Forsaking needs, we demonize wants,

offspring of Greed, the influencer.

It grows with possessions, hiding

under the umbrella of need.

Once possessions are attained

wants take control of our senses

Very true. We all too often place want above need. Good poem

So true Suresh, need is relevant, want is irrelevant.

Bloody wants in a consumerist hell.
I live in an Economy, not a Society. And great significance is given to levels of consumption as a measure of the health of the economy. This from politicians economists and any other expert that can be dragged in to the promotion of the cause, - Ie GROWTH.
          (Hey I'm starting to rant)
And I fully endorse your analysis on the personal level - cleanly and rationally given its due.

Yes, we have become a victim of consumerism, and thus are wants are now our needs

I had thought of stopping at the first verse
