Once, throughout the stillness of a sultry summer’s day
I slept, until the stars appeared and moon came out to play.
Then as she rose resplendently when sister sun had set,
I rued the dying of that day with ruthless, raw regret.
For I had spent it senselessly, let hours, like sand, all seep.
My eyes, I’d closed so carelessly, so spitefully in sleep.
So blindly did I blunder when I let it sail away:
that wasted world of wonder of a sacred summer’s day.

Good write K.
But you may have needed that days rest to go forward in each wonderful new day that is coming your way.
Andy
yeah, I can empathise
it takes me a while to get used to the oppressive summer heat
I'm more of a winter guy for productivity
summer days, I lack the energy
just want to chill and sip and
blink, in and out of lazy naps..
thanks for sharing
Lovely poem Kevin
All too easily done isn't it. But I hope you had wonderful dreams of that love you have written about.
I recall the aftermath of my brother falling asleep uinder the sun and becoming very badly sunburned.
I enjoyed reading your post today very much. It's all too easy to let a day in my life be 'wasted' in this current lockdown mood for us old vulnerables.
A must for my favourites.
