Sure Stone

Tune: Serenity

('Immortal love, for ever full')

Psalm 118 v.19-24

********

Open me gates of righteousness

I enter, the LORD bless

I will go in, will the LORD praise

Joyful songs to Him raise

This gate of the LORD, it be see

Where righteous enter free

i will praise the LORD, for He heard

Me, listened to my word

He answered me, and did me save

What I needed, He gave

The stone which the builders refused

Rejected and not used

The same stone is become the head

Stone of corner instead

This is the LORD's doing, no lies

Marvellous in our eyes

This is the day the LORD has made

It all by Him outlaid

We will rejoice, be glad in it

'Tis with His presence lit

I hope that's a typo when you write about the lord's 'ding' Orchi (do you mean 'doing').

        • orchidee

Thanks dusk oops - amended! It is 'Tis' in the last line though.

          Good write, Orchi.
I'm with dusk on this one. It's a bewildering four lines.

Thanks Jerry. I must have been sleep-typing. I put 'lilies' for 'lies' in that same line.
The verse relates to Christ, called the chief corner-stone of a building, as it were - not counted as anything by men (mankind) but turning out to be the most important stone. Hope this helps.

            Orchi,

This wonderful write reminded me of my beloved grandmother when she’d end her prayers with, “Let the gates of Heaven be open to receive me when I leave this earth.”

Your Lord bestows what you rightly deserve, and if your poems are any indication, you shall for sure enter those gates
