Tune: Louvan
(Lord of all being, throned afar')
Proverbs 4 v.1-13; 18; 23
************
Let now your heart wisdom retain
Her commands keep, with you remain
So shall you live, and wisdom get
Get understanding, not forget
Forsake her not, she shall preserve
You, love her, she shall keep you, serve
Wisdom be the principal thing
Therefore get it for everything
And with all your getting do get
Understanding, exalt her yet
And she shall promote you, bring you
Honour when you embrace here true
She shall place on head ornament
Of grace, crown of glory, intent
It is of her to give to you
Hear wisdom's sayings old and new
So shall years of life be many
Needing not spend foolish any
When you go, your steps shall be sure
When you run, not stumble e'ermore
Take firm hold here of instruction
Let her not go now, daughter, son
Keep her, for she is your life, see
Guiding you through each day she be
Path of just is as shining light
Shines more and more with clearer sight
Unto the perfect day, when bright
It fully free of darkness, night
Keep your heart with all diligence
The LORD His wisdom, Spirit, sense
For out of the heart are the ways
And issues of life for our days

Love this one esepcially the line about
Of grace, crown of gory, intent. Interesting take on things. Surely it couldn't be a typo :p

Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold. I might be the fount of all wisdom (almost). One fly in the ointment though - I turned up in 1066. Doh!
Love this one! It speaks to me
Thanks Dove. I'm running out of wisdom - nearing the end of this series. There are hundreds of actual proverbs to read in the same book though.
