Dressed in black,
With no topcoat,
Or a hat.
I shiver freezing on this boat,
My blood is weak,
I’m pale as the snow,
The only red in on my cheek,
But that’s from the strength of the wind blow.
Everyone around me is wearing white,
They have their own worries to foresee,
Out of the winters bite!
They have topcoats,
They have hats,
They have lifeboats,
Some are wearing caps.
I have nothing,
I’m wearing black,
They are now queuing,
I’m gonna stay back.
Their white clothes,
And white boats,
I don’t belong here,
I don’t even have a black coat.
I don’t belong here!

- Comment from author about the poem: This is my first post. I wrote a lot during my secondary school years into young adult and then hit writers block. I’ve wanted to publish my poetry for years in the hope that it might strike a chord with some or show that lots of people struggle.
