Tune: St Cuthbert
('Our blest Redeemer, ere He breathed')
Psalm 124
**********
If the LORD was not on our side
Did not with us abide
When enemies rose up against
Us, they incensed
Then they would have swallowed us quick
We then in troubles thick
Would have been, when their wrath was stirred
On us conferred
Then the waters would haves swept o'er
Us, and flooded our shore
Stream would have swept over our soul
And took its toll
Blessed be the LORD, He not given
Us to them, but riven
Their traps, our soul escaped as bird
Our prayers you heard
Set free from snare, we fly away
From those who hunt this day
Snare is broken, we free to go
His grace shown so
Our help is in name of the LORD
Trusty, true is His word
Creator of earth and heaven
Our comfort then
