Look Around

Saxon Crow

"Tell me. What is the best poem ever?"
"Look around" I say
"No, no not what's the best piece of art.
What is the best poem ever written?"
"Look around" I repeat again
"I think you are misunderstanding what i am saying.
I am asking, in your expert opinion,
What poem that has been written is the best that's ever been?"
"Look around" ('Ah another muse' . I think
"Now look! Are you being deliberately obtuse?
This is a serious question for me.
Do you understand what i am asking you?!"
"Yes. But do you understand my answer?
Look, around" (this is it
"What do you mean?
All I see are trees in a park, people walking by. Nothing special"
"Look again. (here comes that moment) I see life trying to embrace the wind,
All the beautiful cosmos in a leaf,
Myself as a stranger and my heart dancing to a secret beat.
I see all the wonder that words were created for.
I see what's now, what is to come and what was once before.
What is the best poem ever written you ask me?
I can't tell you.
It hasn't been completed yet.
But what i can say is
We, are all a part of it.
Just...... look around." (Now he gets it
