Our planet Earth
Once full of clean fresh air
Oxygen unseen by the eye
But of smog now a city stares
Global warming a real threat
As polar ice caps melt
And sea levels begin to rise
The effect on coastlines is felt
A hole in the Ozone Layer
Our humanity escaping through
For goodness’s sake
What will we do?
Carbon dioxide rising
At an alarming rate
No need to be a scientist
To see our future’s fate
The one species responsible
Is the one with the cure
If they care enough
Their future to secure
No time to waste
The time to act is now
If not, the end our new future
It’s just a matter of how
What’s really sad
As innocent species dies
Because of man’s ignorance
Mother Nature cries

That poem says it all, AP. Great write.
Now, what is to be done?
PS: Thanks for introducing me to Julian Lennon
Thanks for the read and comment Dave.
Thanks AP for your enthusiastic response.
Good write AP.
Nicely penned poem AP but i have to disagree on something. Mother nature will always survive and thrive. Man is just a blip geologically speaking. However, we are f***ed!
It's getting harder and harder to be optimistic these days Sax. And yes, Mother Nature will eventually recover as it did after the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, and the ice age. But man's modern history does not always make me feel too proud. Thank s for the read and comment.
A great poem my friend and a great JL song as well ... actually I am a big fan of the young fella ...
Thanks N. I'm also a big fan of Julian Lennon. ; )
Minority seems to hijack life, while majority just sucks it up -
Nicely written
It's almost amazing that man has been the dominant species in the world. Thanks for the read and comment suresh.
Those tears from Mother Nature seem to be ignored by those who could wipe them away.
So true AP - and so sad.
Andy
According to those who could wipe away the tears, tears are irrelevant. That the world should just suck it up. Thanks for the read and comment Andy.
an important subject
and a write that refocuses
our lacklustre or waning, awareness levels
in this time's of so much personal crisis,
thank you for sharing dear poet
