Autumn

Jayasree

With the changing colours

of the season

in the palette of my mind

I mix the reds, yellows, browns and gold

mixing and spreading.

A stroke here

a swish there...

and I paint the world

inside me

with a million beautiful colours.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I have not experienced autumn, but we have a windy season here in Kerala, in November, December. My friend in Canada sent me a picture of the trees in autumn, the leaves vibrant in the colours of the season. It was beautiful and then, I wrote this poem . This poem was published in the Literary survey of Kerala Sahitya Academy.
