Seed Sown

('The church of God a kingdom is')

Mark 4 v.26-29

******************

Jesus said, Kingdom of God is

As if a man, see this

Should cast the seed into the ground

Hoping the yield abound

And then he sleeps, and rises night

And day, and to his sight

The seed should spring and grow up, though

How it does, he not know

For the earth fruit it does forth bring

Blade, then ear, then full thing

The full corn in the ear is seen

Now time for harvest keen

For when fruit ripens, it be time

In life's seasons and rhymes

To harvest it, food to provide

It not to us denied

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. metre. The idea is that the Kingdom of God grows as seeds grow, without the need to be 'inspecting' or checking it constantly. Unless you dahs out into your garden every 5 minutes to see if your plants are growing?!

Like anything in life and nature
If you tend to it, it will grow strong
If you tend to it, it will grow for long
But first you need to plant the seed
Just as you do with your words
