The day is dark,
curtains remain drawn.
Worry fills the place
where a light shone brightly.
Day grows long
as hope battles fear.

A fine write dusk.
It was a bit dark for me too - until I switched the light on! heehee.
There is a lot of that battle about in these worrisome days my friend - a remedy for dark moods is to play your kind of music - so cool Mr D -and thanks for sharing it.
Use a torch to find your way
Open the curtains by the bay
Let the worries fade away
As light fills the room with the carefree day
Dark days always come but they also go.
A good sombre poem Dusk. Know that feeling well!
Hope will always overcome fear as those hopes will become reality.
Andy
dear, oh - so gifted poet
Emily Dickinson lived and wrote in a time
far removed from us, near 1850's
and yet, she too - somewhat by choice
lived her life, in a manner
that your words, so succinctly describe:
'The day is dark,
curtains remain drawn.
Worry fills the place
where a light shone brightly.
Day grows long
as hope battles fear.'
and yet, she managed
to pen such a fitting reply to your poem
nearly two hundreds years ago, and it reads:
'Presentiment is that long shadow on the lawn
Indicative that suns go down;
The notice to the startled grass
That darkness is about to pass.'
ain't Poetry just an amazingly surreal realm, to experience?
thank you, Dusk - simply Brilliant!
