They have no right she's mine tonight
They've got the wrong idea
Why spoil our fun because we're young
It's time to make things clear
They sit and stare but do they care
It's time that they were told
We need some space, get off our case
Why put our dreams on hold
Don't understand, why spoil our plans
I think it's time to go
We're losing hope, this is no joke
Why do they need to know
Can't take anymore - walk out the door
Won't tell them where we've gone
They'll only say that we're too young
And what we're doing is wrong
Stay out of mind and out of sight
We're driving through the night
Make our own tracks no turning back
Call them when we arrive
I'll say we're fine, having a good time
There's nothing to forgive
We both belong, doing nothing wrong
Our lives are ours to live.

- Comment from author about the poem: When Denny (my wife) and I first got together her parents were extremely disappointed and would not allow me across their threshold, so we eloped to London where we eventually got married. After a couple of years we all became the best of friends, so everything worked out fine eventually and 39 years later we are still blissfully happy together.

As time goes by......
Who knows where we will be taken by life? But it is refreshing to read both your post today and your authors comments.
Made me reflect back onto my own rebellious pairing beneath parental frowns.
Thanks Dusk, really appreciate your feedback 😃
I've never been a parent (thankfully) but from observation I believe many parents don't adjust easily to the changes their offspring undergo on their way to maturity.
However you seem to have negotiated through all that in the end. Congratulations.
Neatly expressed, Andy.
Thanks Dave 😁
Knowing your own mind and the strength of the love between you took you along the right path to your obviously wonderful life together. That path of joy and love Andy will be forever with you and Denny.
Andy
