Cold Shoulder

Neville

Cold Shoulder

Between them,

they think they may have

managed to crucify him ..

Starve him, and be sure

to freeze him out they cried

My word, how they did try ..

Indeed, they made

a solemn pact, upon a vague

uncertain line somewhere ..

Discreetly stuck together

so they did .. Oh yes, indeed

and somehow, firmly lodged ..

Bound by fear

between new found bitterness

and those age old chestnuts ..

The logic of fools,

a supreme cold shoulder

and mutual unfounded paranoia ..

Victimisation and prejudice - a portrait too painful - wonder you could find the words, Neville - but you did.

Funny you should mention that now, Neville - I'm contemplating an empty poetic bucket myself....very soon...

Been a while and what a poem to read like many others, those last words seal the deal. Enticingly real, great stuff as always!

          • Fay Slimm.

Judging fit to be demonized is all too familiar as you outline fools' logic here with a great last line - - with that title too you hit the nail smartly my artful friend.

              Good write, Neville.
Paranoia is becoming the root of all evil.

              • Neville

....... tis true, I think many have become paralyzed by fear, too frightened to take risks or to make a decision through the fear of some kind of retribution or litigation ... anyhow .. I thank you mate 🙂

disagreements escalated to paranoia is now the norm of the day, that you have given words so potently.

... I do believe that there is an increasing broad spectrum that ranges from a mild anxiety where folk may believe others are talking about them, or know something about them .. to florid psychotic persecutory delusional thinking that can become extremely complex and systematized .. and much of it is due to new technologies .........................................................

who said that .. cheers my friend 🙂

                  ..

That paranoia controls so many people who should know better Neville.
