Curbed

Fay Slimm.

Curbed.

Tether her feet no more.

Loosen her well-fingered reigns then

cut through her bindings.

This girl-bird is born to fly.

She of the fine-feathered hawk variety

needs rights restored.

Her training is done.

Even when freed she will return for

her usual morsel.

Her spirit now mastered will bring

her unthinkingly back.

When brain-washed she behaves in

acceptable fashion.

A tragic result, not only for raptors

follows urge without action.

As with a bird so with all creatures

curbed from natural freedom.

Dedicated to birds in cages also? A silly question: ('all creatures').
I really had not given the situation of trained raptors much consideration before you made your argument...many thanks Fay.

Sure ;thing Dave --- many birds are caged and many too are born into captivity - -- a sticky subject but hope I made my position clearer re. the training and use of raptors. - - such is the nature of humanity needing control I guess.

Thanks Fay - Yes I can see caged birds as a separate issue -more complex - apologies for the distraction.
"humanity needing control"...I'll give that some thought....

Human cruelty has no bounds, for we have used our might and our intelligence to tame even the fiercest of adversaries, robbing them of their magnificence and their freedom that we are incapable of experiencing. Your words are truly humbling.

              • Fay Slimm.

Thank you sincerely for your emotive review of Curbed and so good to hear your own feelings on this subject my friend - - how right you are to describe human behaviour toward animal kind as using these innocent souls for their own ends.

Very true Fay, I love raptors, there is a falconry near me and they do fly the captive birds but they also breed them a free them into Nature.

Good to know there are some who value the freedom of raptors and breed to free once more in the wild - thank you Andy for sharing that with us.

                  Excellent, Fay.
                  Works on so many levels.

It's always struck me as obscene to capture and 'train' a wild animal. The more the breeds natural existence is removed from association with humanity the greater the obscenity.

Your words today are very gentle with a subject i feel strongly about.
