Tune: Dominus Regit Me

('The King of love my Shepherd is')

John 14 v.15-21

***********

Jesus said, If you love me keep

My commandments, as my sheep

And I will pray the Father, He

Shall give you comforter then, see

That He may with you e'er abide

And my words to you confide

Even the Spirit of truth, He

Spirit, yet Person He be

Whom the world cannot Him receive

Because they not see, [not] believe

Nor do they know Him, but is true

Believers they know Him do

They know Him because He does dwell

With them, and too they would tell

At Pentecost that He would be

In them too by His grace free

He will not leave us comfortless

But will come to us and bless

Yet the world in a little while

Sees Him not, but this no guile* (*deceit)

For believers shall see Him still

And it be in His good will

That because He lives, we also

Shall live, and still Him shall know

At that day they shall know that He

Jesus in the Father be

And the Father be in Jesus

And Jesus too be in us

They that have His commands and keep

Them, they be His loving sheep

He, Jesus, and the Father shall

Love them, still show to them well
