Discovery

Fay Slimm.

Discovery.

Such a clifftop as this where two sat

as sun cut its exit,

lowered its lashes and spread heaven

over new feelings.

Such a dusk as this when youngness

fumbled in deepening

blushes as sweet alchemy pleasured

heights of discovery.

Such a summer as this had buttons

undone as heat crept

into the senses and coupled friends

first became lovers.

  • dusk arising

Everything was so new and exciting for us as young lovers. The world became alive all those thousands of days ago.

And you captured all this with words which painted my vivid picture of special times. The clothes we wore, the music we heard, the language we spoke.

A really special poem today Fay for a has-been romantic like me. Into my favourites of course.

    Simple and pleasing, Fay.
'Such a summer as this had buttons undone as heat crept' - the excuse, the tension, anticipation - great!

  • Saxon Crow

    Romantic doesn't even come close.

And that's how it was so long ago for many of us Fay. Like you dipped your quill into our hearts and spoke our very thoughts. So beautiful Fay. ; )

    Hot, Fay.

I loved the expressions such as 'lowered its lashes and spread heaven' Cheers

I love nature, in this poem, I can see the beauty of the sun cut its exit, lowered its lashes, and spread heaven over new feelings." Our feelings, though, are not new but stretch back many years. Awesome poem with many feelings oozing from each word.
