Maybe One of Us Should Leave

Neville

Maybe One of Us Should Leave

I need to be hurt

She said …

Almost as much

as I need to breathe

I cannot

help myself, is what

She said …

Maybe one of us

should leave

I need to bleed

She said …

It is the only thing

I’ve yet found

that lets the hurt out

Maybe

one of us should leave ..

Deja vu. Those words mean it's all over mate. She's saying one of us (you) should piss off but couched in female guile.
< sings> Gimmie the moonlight, gimmie the guile....

.. If only you knew the half of it .. there is always more than one side to an argument my friend .. but then you know that, dont'cha .. ta for taking the time to check in again today DA ..

Cutting needs professional help as you know, Neville.....Did you manage to convince her to seek it?

Seems like no compatible answer to this familiar request my friend...... your title depicts a well known phrase --- but I do hope it turned out right in the end for those two.

..... thanks for taking part in this, my most recent social experiment Fay .. as always, appreciated more than mere words might convey ...

If she leaves, send her to me. or will she be too much for me?!
You've stunned me into silence - no singing! I heard horrific stores about cutting. *shudders*.
I only use razor blades for shaving. It's Too Much Info to tell you cutting details I heard.

Far more common than many would believe .. as are many other forms of self harmful behaviour .. Thanks for taking a peek Mr. O

its an archaic, yet ageless tradition
to let our poisonous roots - bleed, to heal
            although
the drippings, that trail our regrets
follow us, long - long: after our poem's
            tableau...
            what a brilliant, subtle
and heart wrenchingly acute depiction, my friend
            'so - so relatable
            that infuriating: suddenness
            of too, fuckin late!'

            • Neville

... I could very easily give you a man hug L.B ... my thank you's hardly seem adequate today and I dont mind saying I feel well n truly indulged by your visits to my recent scribbles ..

The following individual response is specifically for Doggerel Dave .. but anyone else too if interested ..

              Hello DD,
Am so glad you asked that question ..
The inspiration for this little scribble actually sprang from one of the very last clinical sessions I had with a young South American patient of mine who used to cut her beautiful self terribly as a means of tension release ...
I am in fact both proud and pleased to report she has never admitted (and I believe her) having cut her self since ... I get a card each year both for Christmas (she does not know I am Buddhist) and my birthday ....

              All Good Things,

              Neville 🙂

Looks like I read completely the wrong message in your post. So pleased that you posted this to clarify. What a wonderful result. Though I suspect you would deny it, I bet those cards fill you with pride each time you open them.

Thank you DA .. yes, I must confess, I still do .. 🙂

I had often heard of young people cutting themselves, and never understood why they could do such a thing. Now, after reading your poem here N, I feel like I do understand why they cut themselves, and that they can learn to not do so. To value their life and future. Great write N. ; )

Well I neva .. thank you so much AP .. you just made my day .. Cheers & All Good Things .. N 🙂

                    Good write, Neville.
An interesting character to write about. What was the source of her tension?

                    • Neville

thank you Jerry .. victims of serial abuse regardless of the nature of said abuse often inadvertently discover that by resorting to self harmful behaviours .. they experience a tremendous release of tension ...

Such sadness in these words, I too have spoken to a young girl whose only way out seemed to be self harming, I hope that my words helped her.
Self harming seems so prevalent nowadays in young people so what is going wrong in these days are they not being treated well by their parents/guardians.
                      Strange world.

                      • Neville

Thank you Andy .. though seemingly more prevalent today, the issue has been around almost since for ever .. Loads of reasons .. but yes, absolutely, it is a strange old world.

I can totally relate to the intense emotions you have exposed, for I have witnessed first hand the mental trauma they experience, and my abject failure in getting through to them. Though poetic, yet powerful
