Way Too Late
She refused to listen to reason and then, to common sense
but later came to realise, there are no such things
as unplanned goodbyes, or farewell accidents

Strong message Neville; totally agree.
Andy
thanks Andy .. its always reassuring when you know at least one other sees it your way .. š
I once had an unplanned goodbye,... she fell off the cliff.
Oh' dear, I am so very sorry ..
How did you get away with it Neville? 'Bit dangerous, your confession now.... or do you have a statute of limitations in the UK?
thanks for noticing DD .. in reality, I hardly ever get away with it, but occasionally, it just happens, a bit like shit really š
Her trust then shattered and with eyes wide open her cannons I guess were raised and ready to plan her reaction........ powerful stuff Nev.......x
.. thankfully he fired blanks and her cannons were actually not that impressive at the end of the day .. so ya got nowt to fear on that front my Lady .... x
A fine write N.
I ain't said Hello to her yet, let alone Goodbye, unplanned or not! lol.
Probably be as dusk says......
.. probably, but why š
Hardball write, Neville.
Denial creates head-on collisions in slow motion.
.. bang on sir ... and thank you ..
N š
Insightful poem. Like Dusk Arising I had an unplanned goodbye when my dear friend also fell off a cliff. That was the first image that came to mind when I read your poem.
Oh' dear .. I am doubly sorry, hope they landed on something soft and were not hurt ... I guess if you saw them fall, you could say that was actually in sight fall too tho .. Cheers n all that jazz š
At the end of it all, Iām left wondering, why? Thank you for clarifying in such a poetic stance
.. wow did I do that .. thanks suresh š

'Way Too Late'..
(why do I feel like, we should have been studying this
as a conceptualised introduction
to our fallible selves, since kindergarten
then maybe, we could have avoided
most - of our brutal: life lessons...?)
there's an aspect of grounded wisdom
that makes all your unassumingly - profound
philosophical concepts
appear so accessible and measured;
these three stages, you've worded so relatable
are so universal, and can be applied
to almost every person on earth, and yet
you've just subtly inserted them in the poem
in such an understated manner,
what a gift you choose to share, so generously
dear poet, thank you!
a bloomin huge thank you and of course the cheque, my bank details and soul will be in the next post brother ... š
