Yesterday

ron parrish aka wordman

Hold back the years

hold back time

how many new wrinkles

can i find .

Oh how i long for yesterday

i can remember running barefoot

down a dirt road just after a rain

stepping in the puddles.

I can remember the warm water

on my feet,flying kites,riding

a bus for the first time.

Going to a saturday matinee

watching two or three movies

staying all day.

A golden glove boxer, a basketball star,

Oh but those days seem so far.,

But i long to be there again

just once more before the end.

oh how i long for yesterday...

Hit home with me Ron. So many memories over the course of a life. And the Roy Clark song too. ; )

Many of us come from various places, but common places. ; )

We all feel like that on occasions but we are still here and have many more yesterdays to create in our lives.

what a relatable depiction of that yearning
we all get from time to time: to rewind - time
so as to relive those idyllic days
        of yesteryear's, highlight reels
in our reminiscing's album, of memento scenes...
(this took me on a journey
        of a few cherished memories;
what a wonderful gift, in a read
        thanks for sharing, dear poet)

Nostalgic, so lucky to have good memories to reflect upon.
