What a glorious time it was,
To be singing once more,
Singing with others.
Music is my life,
Singing is part of it
But after such a long time
Not being able to sing
The joy was still there,
The joy of producing music
Through our voices
For others to hear.
There we were in the church,
Just six of us,
But the organ sounded
And our voices burst out of our hearts
Singing to the world once more.
Comes the day,
Comes the day soon
When all the choir will sing
And the beauty of music
Will sail from our voices
Into the ether forever.

- Comment from author about the poem: The only reason I go to church is to sing in the choir. My idea of christianity was taken from me when my wife became ill but I love singing in church and we were aloud six in the choir to sing at our Ministers leaving service, so great to sing once more.

Glad you've got back to the choir GF. Sing your heart out! Lovely poem
Thank you SC, it was great to go back.

Cooee! Good write Gold.
It's a gloomy day - my singing resumes! lol.
I'm sure my singing tutor knows something, but its not telling me. I've paid out for 5,284 lessons so far. He says I'm improving, so.....!
So your back!!
I know a choir that you could join it is called 'Aberdeen Rock Choir' they rehearse every Wednesday and there is no need for an audition.
Andy
Thanks Gold. Do they rehearse miles out in Shetlands, so most people won't hear me? Only those in the choir, and they will drown me out.
some things are gradually returning to normal it seems .. I can't help worrying there may be a price to pay though .............................. I dont like being wrong any more than the next bloke .. but would not object if I have erred in my thinking on this one ..
Yes it is still worrying times but in this case we were sitting 2 metres apart and wearing masks when not singing. I do not think we are out of the woods yet.
Andy
What an uplifting release singing is.
It surely is da, as you well know.
Andy
organ is such a powerful instrument
you could be six hundred or six
and you wouldn't notice it,
thanks for sharing Andy
A good organist can adapt to the power of the choir and drown them out when they are rubbish. LOL.
We had a good response though which pleased us.
Andy
Are you sure about this, Andy? Even from far away it looks like madness to me...
Understand this newfound freedom applies to England alone not the rest of the UK. Correct?
I can understand your feelings Dave and we do still need to be careful. I am sure we are not out of the woods yet but it was so good to sing with others.
Andy
I think there was an Angel singing beside you Andy. ; )
There certainly was AP, she had a wonderful voice and used to be the singer in the Swing Band that we were in some years ago.
