The Colerutter Fire Service

Saxon Crow

What a noise! What a din
The Colerutter fire engine's out again
With men of action all aboard
Running so fast with feet through the floor
One screams loudly like a wailing cat
While another points to where the dangers at
Another holds the watering can
While his partner holds tightly to his soggy hand
The commanding officer holds the ladder
While the eldest prays to hold his bladder
And who do they find stuck up in a tree?
*Griddly Smethelton and his jet propelled sneeze
He hangs on to the branches and  leaves
Crying so loudly he disturbs the bees
"Stand back!" shouts out the commanding officer
Bravely stepping forward like a forester
With an evil glint and axe in hand
On first stroke says "I'll soon get you down"

Crack! The sound's heard from miles around
Crack! Here comes an audience from the town
Crack! Splinters flying through the air
Crack! One knocks off *Ipsy's hair
Crack! The tree is tilting now
Crack! The tree has toppled down

Bringing everyone to their knees
A cheer erupts from the sight they see
As the commanding officer is stung by  bees
Griddly stands up finally free
Then the crowd depart to different places
All smiles and contentment on their faces
Except for The Colerutter Firefighter service
Who can't seem to find where their engines reverse is.
....... And so the sun sets slowly on Boffington Town
Whose fates and lives are in the hands of clowns
It's not that bad a place to admire
Just never use matches or start any fires

There you go - psychic, that's me.
Now just a tiny bit of geographical clarification if yer don't mind, Author: I take it that Griddly blasted himself into a neighboring town, ie Colerutter?
Either way, twas a lively read and up to your usual standard, perfectionist.....

If you read my very first poem on BT it mentions Colerutter row which is a road name in BT

Perfection it is most definitely not. But thank you anyway

            Good write SC.
Clowns? Bozo, Coco, etc? Do they deserve those names?!

            Me again!
Yes, and it always baffles us: 'Fire Door - Must be kept closed at all times'. How we going to get out if there's a fire? Hmm!
