Should I write a poem today?
Would it wash the sadness away?
Could it drive off the clouds black and gray?
And even - even - if it may...
Should I write a poem today?
If I wrote a poem today,
"Mischief" or "Madness" they would all say,
"Stiff and bland - in a terrible way."
And the pain - the pain - would grow and stay,
If I wrote a poem today.
I can't write a poem today -
My brightest thought is filled with dismay.
Try as I might to act, not delay...
And I'm tired - so tired - anyway;
I can't write a poem today.
Let's say I wrote a poem today,
Let's say the gloomy clouds all stay,
Let's say the poem is filled with dismay,
Let's say "It's horrible" they do all say;
If I wrote a poem today,
By the light of this dying day,
Perhaps it would all be more than worth it.
But writing a poem is very - very - hard...
I think I'll try tomorrow.

It's horrible.
Too late. You wrote the poem today. You'll have to write another for tomorrow anyway. ; )
It was a bit of an accident, you might say! 🙂
I'm all about accidents Joseph. ; )
Can be hard - depends on how many parameters you set your self. As you appear not to be a devotee of free verse, you've set some.
I don't believe it was an accident - cut the BS 😊 and let's see some more.
Thank you for the encouragement! I do think this is a wonderful place to try my hand at poetry, and see what others have for me.
Yes write every day if you can. Thank you. I enjoyed the poem.

Well, there's a 'Like' button on here, but no 'Dislike' button!
Very true! I just realized that that may encourage objections to be raised in the comments, where a good discussion can be pursued.
