Conservation of Reality -- Homage to Sir Terry Pratchett.

Trenz Pruca

Imagine a law exists

governing the Conservation of Reality.

It  would state

it would take

the same amount of effort

to do something with magic

as doing it without.

Why bother toying

with the infinite unknown

of the universe

when you can just get up

and do the dishes

yourself?

M = R(I x I)

Magic equals Reality times Imagination squared.

I want to come to grips with this, Trenz. Proposition which forms the body of your piece is neat and clear.
Now I've never read Terry Pratchett - I realize he is a much revered SF/fantasy writer... so what is the connection?

Dave, in reviewing some of my posts I discovered that for some reason my response to your comment was not sent. I no longer remember what I had written. I apologize for that. Anyway, Pratchett has been one of my favorite writers for some time now. A few years back, in conjunction with two esteemed British scientists, he wrote a four book series on "The Science of Discworld" in which they compared the science of DiskWorld (Pratchett's imaginary world) with that of our own. They are a fascinating and easy to understand explanation of the various sciences of earth wrapped around some amusing stories about the wizards of the Unseen University's adventures on our earth. And yes, although the DiskWorld is a magical universe, magic is rarely used even by the witches for the very reason explained in the poem.

I don't recall non response from you, Trenz, but sometimes the programme goes AWOL with respect to notifications, I've noticed.
Seems you have convinced me to put TP on my 'to do' reading list.....

Magic is exactly what you say in life Trenz.

Thank you Andy but it still is easier to do the dishes yourself.
