Not A Love Poem

Saxon Crow

Why is it we always remember love
When the sun shines brightly
And birds are singing so sweetly?
Why do we reminisce on the good heartfelt times shared?
Rather than when moments were melancholic?
My first love was an alcoholic
Not romantic a poem at all
But i was the only one who knew it
Because she let me see her so
I can write many a verse declaring how love in all its splendour feels
But thats a lie we tell ourselves
Just to make the dream feel real
Shakespeare has a lot to answer for
Love is not a staged play
Love is picking up used tissues when your partner has been ill
Love is cuddling up together to protect you from the cold
Love is supporting your loved one through
Great stress and times of loss
Love is still being there after another argument kicked off
Love is a lot of effort to make sure you both hold on
It's just far too easy to ignore these things
And let the angels sing
But love is real and ugly and painful and bloody
Love is sharing what's left of nothing
Love is just part of living
Without it we wouldn't survive
But whens all said and done
Love is the greatest prize

Love certainly is the greatest prize SC, that I know so very well even though my lover has departed this earth she is always with me and that love grows stronger each day.

You are not talking about Love as this nebulous thing everyone is waiting around for, or finding it is unrequited, are you Sax? As I read you it is tangible, concrete with all its complexities.
As I’ve made plain in an earlier piece of mine , I’m not fond of Love poetry as it appears far too often, but this has a reality embodied in it - Thanks.

Yeah love only gets you so far Dave.

Oh yes SAx - love hurts and is often made out to be other than this honest verse reminds us - that "love is a lot of effort" yet it surely is too the "greatest prize"

Thanks Fay. Just in a practical and realistic frome of kind today

Boom! I've though the line of love is sharing what's left of nothing but then the end blow my mind. Love most certainly undefined, its all your words and more. I'm sure we'll be writing about it till the end of time....

        Inspirational stuff!

Crikey! It's the greatest subject there ever is. Four little letters creating sooooooo many thoughts and feelings. If you think about it love really is multi dimensional

            Excellent write Sax.
Love knows no limits, no boundaries it can't cross, no depths it can't reach, no heights it can't fly. But it also requires input from a living entity or it is only that what is expected of. Believe in it, and love will believe in you.

Well Saxon, this is really an excellent piece and deserving of much acclaim.

Deserving of more recognition than it will receive if only posted on MPS where it is receiving much praise.

            Into my fav's for sure
