Weight.
The weight of dying relationships
discolours blue skies,
pulls plugs on regretful mistakes,
treads mud over smiles,
turns togetherness to irritation,
makes hugs into ice,
and drops lead on signs of abating.
The air of dead passion penetrates
need's former close ties,
it kills fresh attempts and suffocates
with no compromise
the lack then felt in communication.
How complete becomes isolation
when love disintegrates.

Compelling words evolved from a compelling image Fay. Magnificent.
Into favourites.
Andy
you have drawn my attention to the heavy vacuum so oft left behind and which many of us can sadly relate ..
sometimes they take a lifetime to create, yet may be gone in a tear and a blink ............................ x
You have clearly defined in poetic form the desolate void which attends the end of a close relationship, Fay.
Cannot state I enjoyed this, but acknowledge the rich descriptive qualities in your piece.
Thanks.
So true. The purposefulness of life falls away when ones love affair ends on such wrong notes as you describe. On the other hand though a feeling of release, freedom and back to enjoying being ones self can be welcome. It rather depends upon how one feels about break-up.
Your sensitive wording took me back to endings i have lived through. I'm pleased to report the last one found me welcoming the freedom.
T'is true
With a heavy heart, one can relate so well. Love can take us all to highs and lows, but it all balances out. Great write Fay.
Well done, Fay.
I so relate to "plugs on regretful mistakes" the walls of my mind look like a porcupine.
