The Prevailing Dream

Aastha Parakh

The way I live, is the way I am

The way you see me, does not define I am

The grave mistake of caring for your say

Made my dreams flutter away

Your thoughts your opinions shouldn't have mattered to me

But alas life gives you the test first and then teaches you the lesson

It was my fault I cared about you

Thus giving you the paintbrush to the canvas of my life

After you got a say, my dreams broke like a shattered vase

And the bird representing my dreams, got cut of at the face

You made me weep, you made me cry

Because of you my heart became dry

No dream to worship, no goal to work for

Just proved how people can be hard core

Our relation may last forever or break at any moment

But let me tell you I don't study in a convent

I'll hurt, I'll riot, I'll fight, I'll scream

But I swear, I'll make sure I follow my dream

I won't make the same mistake again

No matter how much I'll have to bargain

I'll laugh, I'll travel

And make sure the world gets unravelled

You made sure that my life became hell

But you know what, I will live as a fighter and die as a winner

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem was inspired by a situation which I had seen a few years ago. Till this day it continues to inspire and motivate me. It is the reason why I push forward and give my level best and I hope it helps you do the same. I hope you enjoy this poem as much as I enjoyed writing it. Remember never give up on your dreams because without them we are just people wandering in life without any path.
