Tune: Song 34
('Forth in thy name, O Lord, I go')
John 15 v.12-16
********
Jesus said, This is my command
To you, hear, do, and understand
That you love one another, see
As I have loved you, so it be
Greater love has no one than this
It a comfort, eternal bliss
That one lay down their life for friends
And care, compassion here attends
You are my friends if you do what
Soever I command, your lot
Henceforth I call you not servants
But show to you my commandments
For the servants know not what their
Lord does, they do not in it share
But I have called you friends, for all
I have heard I share, and you call
All things I have heard of [my] Father
I have not hidden, but rather
Have made them known to you, and you
Have not chosen me, this is true
But I have chosen you, and by
My appointing, with no deny
You shall go and bring forth fruit, so
It shall remain, in goodness grow
That whatsoever you shall ask
Of the Father, small or large task
Asking in my name, and He shall
Give it to you, you shall fare well
