Tune: Louvan
('Lord of all being, throned afar')
Psalm 121
**********
I will lift my eyes to the mount
Of Zion, whence flow blessings fount
My help comes from there, from the LORD
Who made heaven, earth by His word
He will not let your footsteps fall
He that keeps you ne'er sleeps at all
He the LORD, he your keeper be
Protector of His sheep is He
He be your shade, sun shall not smite
You in things of day, He your might
Nor moon shall smite in things of night
In times of darkness he your light
The LORD shall preserve you from all
Evil, and He shall hear your call
To Him, and shall preserve your soul
Keep too in body, spirit whole
He shall preserve your going out
And your coming in, with no doubt
From this time for, and even for
Evermore, it a comfort sure

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8. metre. Trying to explain verse 3: 'The sun shall not harm you by day, nor the moon harm you by night'. I think sun means things of the day (well, sunstroke too) and moon the things of the night. You got sunstroke at present?! No danger of it just now?
