you cant cry anymore

dusk arising

You can't cry anymore
what's done is done
can't lie anymore
you're the one.
No more excuses
a life's lost and gone
the finger points
... you're the one.

.                      And he won't laugh
.                           he wont dance
.                             he won't cry
.                           won't romance.
.                     Will give no flowers
.                          on mothers day
.                     won't see the tears
.                         or feel the pain.

There's an empty seat
and an empty glass.
A schoolday picture
from a happy past.
A bedroom shrine
with a hollow tone.
There's a broken heart
in a broken home.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I watched a TV prog about teenage boys in a reckless driving car crash where one of them died and the driver lied about who was driving. Three victims identified in my piece, the youthful foolish driver, the dead passenger, his family.

Yes, a situation seen so often. So many young lives needlessly lost.

      a haunting read
      thanks for sharing Dusk

      • dusk arising

I dont know whether this has come across as hard hitting as i had hoped or as it ought to be on such an awful subject. So many avoidable losses of young lives on our roads with such awful effects on others lives all round. Thank you LBM.

Reads like a song Dusk. Nice one

        • dusk arising

I hadn't thought of it as a song, I guess its maybe my rare use of rhyme in it.
