To Begin Again

Saxon Crow

In the early morning when all I hear
Is the ticking of the clock and the gulls squawking in the distance
The silence reflects my mood
There's a peace I haven't felt in such a long time
That it's as if I am born again into this beautiful world
And all its wonders are laid out before me to experience once again
Although I feel the years of life carved and etched into me
The lessons learnt have matured me into oak
So now i can immerse myself with grounded appreciation of life and all its many layers
Through the chaos of the path I chose
I now return full circle
Safe in the knowledge i know which steps to tread
So I listen to the clock on my wall and the gulls singing their raucous tune
Knowing I have been given a very special gift
Oh, to begin again
