I lament my ill circumstance
As I clutch upon the draw,
Of boreal winds while memories froth
That I struggle to recall.
Staring down the blackened white
Remaining calm against the gale,
That within the bitter night I find
I am lonesome, and I exhale.
Someone or something brought forth this rage,
This fury, or sheer displeasure.
I wound up here, one way or another,
So I'm sure it's in good measure.
This chill does naught to aid my thirst,
Nor does my hunger for the weather.
I wonder what shall kill me first,
My broken heart, or frozen feathers.

- Comment from author about the poem: A metaphor likening this crow's circumstance to facing life in earnest against difficulty and prejudice. I hope you enjoyed and thanks for the visit.

Those last two lines killed me...........
Not gonna lie they killed me too
Being somewhat bias towards crows, I feel somewhat sad at the thought of a crow freezing to death! However, a wonderfully crafted piece here Nicholas
Crows are the best, hands down. Thank you for the praise, Sir Crow. Also for the visit!
Good write Nicholas.
Some don't like crows / rooks / ravens. They are lovely birds though.
They are! Shame on people. Crows are one of the most disliked birds and that should be a crime. Tsk. As always thanks for the visit, Orch. I know I'm not around as much as I should be these days.
brilliant imagery and wonderful flow
those frustrations and doubts are so relatable,
thanks for sharing

Andy
Thanks Andy. May those wonderful days bless you as well.
Very expressive and creative in your words .. I think crows look like friendly birds .. I like how it’s also about our difficulties we may have
I never received this notification! D: Truly a shame. Regardless, I'm pleased that you enjoyed the read, Rose! And crows are indeed friendly. (Or so I'd like to think)
Brilliant lyrical verse. Amazing write.
Hey! Thanks a bunch for your saying so. I'm glad you enjoyed!
