In my time here on My Poetic Side, I’ve grown fond of many of my poet-friends. I feel that my own writing has improved greatly while here, and words can’t fully express the gratitude I feel to my readers for the support and many, many encouraging compliments given to me for my writings. I’ve always felt respected and inspired by my readers in how we all converse with each other and our combined love for the written word that compels us to write poetry. This is a community of finely talented poets who write from their hearts and their Muse. I’m honored and blessed to have been among you all.
Although, there have been a few instances where certain poets here have either disagreed with my writings or has different views on a particular subject. And that’s ok, but in the past year I’ve noticed many alternative views on the subject of believing in God. Not once have I ever meant to offend anyone’s feelings on religion, but occasionally I see where someone takes a very strong attitude against God within a poem I’ve posted. Personally, I myself do believe in God and Heaven. But I except that not everyone believes as I do, and that is fine. Everyone has the right to believe as they wish to believe. But as to why bad things happen in the world or to any one individual, I don’t know. I’m no more an expert on God than anyone who’s against God. Why he does or doesn’t do something I don’t feel is up to us to judge, as we human beings don’t have firsthand proof of why God does or doesn’t do something, or what God thinks, feels or believes. Until God shows himself here and speaks to all of us of why God does or doesn’t do something and all he thinks, feels and believes, I find it hard to believe that anyone of us can side against God. Yes, we have the so-called Bible, but even that is not first hand of God. And someone might say that is why they can’t believe in God. I can’t prove the existence of God any more than an Atheist can dis-prove the existence of God. How much do we really know as facts about God? All I have is my faith in what I feel in my heart to be real and true.
There are many things about this universe that most of us more than likely will never know how or why they are as they are. So where do we place the concept of God (who we know so little about) within a universe, we know so little about. How can we judge God because something tragic in the world has happened? How can we blame God because a family member has a terminal disease there is no cure for? Why is it always God that gets thrown under the bus for circumstances that are a society related issue? Because God let it happen? For what reason would any spiritual entity want to let harm come to any life form on this Earth? I believe in my heart that there is someone or something bigger than all of us, and that it loves and cares very deeply for us. If there is a God or spirit entity, whether in our image or not, I believe it is the essence of love. And it has instilled the qualities of love in every living thing on Earth. And when a species of life on this Earth comes to the end of its life no matter the cause or reason, that God or spirit is there to comfort and welcome the crossing over of that life to the afterlife.
I have posted poems mentioning God and I get a number of disrespectful replies from other poets on here, yet when someone else mentions God nothing disrespectful is said. I’ve come to feel like I’m walking on eggshells here within MPS and have to be so careful of offending someone’s beliefs, which is something I would never want to do. I’m not a “In your face” type of person. Anger has no useful purpose on this planet. I hope I’ve not offended anyone, and I’m certain there will be a few nasty remarks left here. So be it, but I need a break. ~ Accidental Poet ~

I think what pisses most of the non believers off (self included) about some of the christian (and other religions) writers is the arrogance that they display in their preaching like text. Telling all that they are sinners and need to beg/pray or whatever for forgiveness is patronising/condescending and shows no respect for the belief of others.
More harm to humanity has been done by christian churches (and other organised religions) than by those who do not believe in a god.
The christian churches have been exposed as corrupt on many levels and guilty of many organisational 'sins'.
Whereas one may wish to separate supporting any one churches religion from actual belief in god it has to be pointed out that without those churches there would be no teachings about god and therefore no belief in god. So the two cannot really be seperated.
I respect every individuals right to belief or non belief but I will not be arrogantly preached at by insensitive persons who appear to take the bible as if it were written by god and appear totally ignorant of the errors and mistranslations within the king James bible. Christianity has from its earliest days been manipulated by the roman church even so far as deciding which of the gospels should be included into the bible thereby leaving out several worthy gospels simply because they did not conveniently fit into the shape of religious devotion the church wished to engineer.
I could write much much more on these subjects but maybe that will be for another day.
Sadly many may be too timid to comment upon your fine piece because they have been taught to live in fear of god.
AP it's the state of the world - just tune them out. People don't realize just how little they are in this universe. I can't recall anything you wrote that was out to get anyone. Tout et bien. And you can sum it up by telling them to "go blow your nose"...........
Thank you Lorna for your insightful advise. And yes, advise taken. π
AP there are two very important words that cover every aspect of religion, politics, judgement and ignorance. I shall pass these words of wisdom on to you because you are a brilliant and talented poet who is an asset to this site. So free of charge for your use as and when.... Fuck em. I hope this piece of wisdom will serve you as it does me. God bless, your friend Saxon Crow π
Thank you Sax, from YOUR friend AP. π
AP everyone has their thoughts of this matter. I was brought up to believe in God. I really don't care what other people think and they should nott care about what I think . My son told me he thought that me and my wife think of God as a crutch . Because as we reach our older years we needed something to believe in. But that's not true. I have believed in God as a child growing up . Something he chose not to do. But when his yung daughter came through several surgeries . He thanked God. So like I said . each and every one of us thinks differently. You keep writing about anything you wish. You have a talent . you need to use it.
Thank you ep. There are a few poets around here I do feel very comfortable around, and you're one of them. I think I mentioned before that we have much in common. π
Yes we have a lot in common. I have had no problems with anyone since joing this site .
We have our own ideas and we post them. We don't ask for anyone to agree with us . It's our thoughts we share . Not others . Thanks for your reply . You enjoy your Sunday.
And you as well ep. π

Well done for expressing this on here . Iβm sorry you feel this way , and that you have had disrespectful replies ... some people simply are not respectful enough ,
I believe in angels and I believe in helpful nice loving beings
Everyone has their own opinion .
I like your poetry .
Thank you rose. Your support is much appreciated. Nice to know there are those who have your back. π
I think if there is a god ... then surely we canβt place the blame on him for bad things that happen
The universe can be or feel confusing . I question things too ...
Oh such a sensitive soul......
You need a break? Promise?
Bye......
There, well be shocked, Teddy. I have my reasons.
Apart from those reasons, it is a totally unnecessary spray which has no place on a poetry site. AP must be very needy to want to draw this kind of affirmation out of people.
Not the first time he has done this either. In danger of becoming a serial offender.
People disagree with you - So what? Argue back or move on. Don't become a wimp in far too many words.
You ignored ' I have my reasons.'
He is not down, he is just attention seeking. You want to end this? Just ignore it. Do not respond.
I do believe that there is a force out there that I call god. I used to be a christian and was at one time a Chaplain but since Joyces dementia the christian god did not help her and she had believed and sang gods praises all he long life.
I prayed and prayed for her to this christian god but she only got worse and eventually passed.
At church one day I gave up christianity and it was like a weight had lifted from me.
I know that My Spirit runs through me and will always be with me waiting to join with Joyce's Spirit when the time comes -- but not yet.
May your god go with you AP.
Andy
I know your deeply hurt by the passing of your wife Andy. And please believe me I in no way meant to deepen that hurt on you. You're a wonderful talented and peaceful man Andy. And a great friend of those lucky enough to have your friendship.
There is no way I thought you deepened that hurt AP, I thought your words spoke the truth and we all have our own way of belief within us.
Andy
Thanks Andy. I hope you know just how much I respect your love for your wife. π
Noticeable that all those who commented, except me, gained a response. Left me wondering why?
Well Dusk, as in another of my posts you left a note very similar, this write was not about the church or Christianity.
Refresh me then. You have made a very large stastement beneath your title of something you have to say. I gave you a reaction without disrespecting any god or belief other than to comment upon my personal lack of belief in a conventional god image/thing/being and my rejection of an established church. No query has been forthcoming as to my reasons. Is that because any reason is beyond contemplation? Or, dare i broach the subject, that arrogance of belief interferes with any contrary reasoning?
I'll say it again Dusk. My write here was not about the church or Christianity.
Nor was mine. It was about god in actuality. Can u address that?
I believe I did Dusk.
ok u remain avoiding confronting questions head on. i believe it's termed blind faith.
I'm not avoiding anything Dusk. Just telling you what my poem here is and is not according to me. How you interpret it is up to you. Enjoy. π
Well i'm not big on rules of poetry i'll admit but if you think that diatribe was poetry i begin to see where you are at.
Why no mention of copyright on this post whereas all your others are so possessed.
Ok, you got me there Dusk. It's NOT a poem.
