Addictive antidote

melancholic philia

Can't look at you the same
After you came
Started to build castles in the sky
But now I'm stuck wondering if
It all was a lie
My heart is bleeding
From all the love I gave
For your every beck and call
I was your slave
I tell myself
Love isn't worth the tears
But what is love
If it's not facing your fears

Sitting with my thoughts
While sipping on your memory
The moment I saw
How you looked at me
There was sparks and so much desire
That moment, all I wanted to do was give in to that fire
Never knew I'd fall this hard
And then let down my guard
All night I stare and wonder
If absence really makes the heart grow fonder
Each day I'm away from you
Feels like forever

  • Comment from author about the poem: When we fall in love for the fast time, there is this rush of adrenalin we get from the feeling of being in love. We want to have the person near us constantly and want them to spend forever with us. Sometimes this feeling can become a remedy for all the bad things going on in our lives. Love can become like a drug, our biggest downfall.
