A knock on my door

M.O.I.

A knock on my door
I couldn't expect more,
I peeked through the window,
Hoping not to swindle,
Carefully, carefully,
I creeped to the door,
Wanting to run,
I went back and peeked once more.

Through the window,
A whole new world appeared,
Men with masks and ventilators by their beds,
2 Metres apart,
Stand by the floor marks,
Is this the new normal?
I thought in my head.

Gently, gently,
I stepped a foot outside,
People coughing and sneezing into the air,
I heard a name,
Sounded frightening,
Something that ended with Covid-19.

Shops were closed,
Lockdown was imposed,
Who's the impostor,
China I suppose,
No need to hate,
Time will pass,
And at the end of all this,
We'll all celebrate.

I stepped my foot back inside,
Now part of the masked men,
Washing my hands often,
To prevent the spread,
Is this the new normal?
I thought in my head.

That 'new normal' will have to be accepted M.O.I.

    Welcome to MPS

    'Is this the new normal?'
yup, a question I ask myself
    every few days
when something even more ridiculous is announced
this really has been a challenging time for everyone,
    a good write on covid
and its element of surreal, thanks for sharing
