Tune: Doncaster
('Put thou thy trust in God')
Amos 5 v.20-24
*********
Shall not day of the [return of the] LORD
Be true unto His word?
For those who do from Him turn back
They be deprived and lack
That day to them shall be
As dark, not as light, see
Very dark, and with no brightness
In it, gloomy, no less
The LORD of them does tire
A situation dire
will not accept the offerings
That each one falsely brings
And will not hear their songs
Hypocrisy prolongs
Wile they idols too do serve free
Mixing their worship, see
But let judgement, justice
Run down, good shall be this
And righteousness as mighty stream
Bright shine the LORD's light-beam

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.6. metre. This is nearly all posted in this Minor Prophets series, I think. I just found one more in the series....

Thanks N. lol. I'm not averse to religious/spiritual humour - but I will write a verse (or ten)!
