The hero struts on stage with a swagger,
This handsome, charming man opens his mouth
And a sound of such indomitable beauty
Fills the house and my mind.
I am transported into the world of opera,
All other thoughts disappear,
As the music permeates my body and soul.
The heroine appears and a sound of such power
Amazes me as it is done with no effort.
How can they do this, produce this music,
So powerful, so beautiful and so fulfilling to me.

- Comment from author about the poem: Opera can be so emotive, the video is the final scene from Rigoletto and every time I hear it tears run down my face.

A fine write Gold.
Thank you Orchi.
As a child, the house rang to the sounds of opera on sundays when father played his records. My young ears, more accustomed to my two big sisters 45 rock n roll voices, took offence and with it the opportunity to play elsewhere.
Overall I avoid the stuff but there are certain pieces which are simply so superb. Yes, the popular pieces please my ears no end.
In my house all types of music played which brought the wonderful varied palette of music that I now have in my life, opera being only one of them.
We are so lucky to have all this music in our lives d a.

As with Dusk, my father played his records on Sundays and especially loved Joan Sutherland (who I think I see in picture). What a gift they have!
Yes it is Joan Sutherland. They certainly do have this gift for us all.

That you are moved to such emotions Andy moves me. Excellently penned my friend. 😉
Thank you AP. I seem to have become a very emotive guy, especially where music is concerned.

Opera can bring great emotion to the surface like few other art forms can. A lovely penned piece here Andy.
It surely can Coyote, thank you for your kind words.
