It was one of those days,
Those days where time flies by.
Yes I am retired and should have time,
But what happened to yesterday!
Every day I write poems,
But not yesterday,
I had a job that needed doing,
Needed doing first thing.
I had to go out to the croquet club,
I needed to put the white lines down,
Down on the lawns.
This normally takes under an hour
But not yesterday,
The machine was not working
So I had to take it apart and fix it!
Did that then went home.
Got home half an hour before going out.
Shower needed,
Shower done.
Then those little things happened,
Struggled to put leg in trousers,
Cereal container empty
So refilled it,
Went to put milk on it
But had to peel off the stopper.
Managed to get out five minutes late,
So not too bad.
But the worst problem of all
Was not writing poetry
And putting it on this site.

- Comment from author about the poem: Yesterday was the first time that I have not put a poem on this site since I joined in February 2017, the time just seemed to disappear. Being retired can lead to such a busy life, as the saying goes I jut do not know how I had time to go to work! The video is for Teddy.15

Happens to me often enough , Andy. Even with the task list, half the items get carried forward to the next...
It's cool - I don't usually fall back on the thought that the World just keeps on turning, but here I think It's relevant.
It happens to many of us, time just flies by.

A fine wrote Gold.
Aww - and not time to hear me sing a song - or ten?! lol.
There is 'File 13' - things we can't be bothered with, or don't need doing. We bin them!
Thanks Orchi.
Me again! But we have had ages, centuries. And those too who were around in 1066, like we were.
OMG dont make poetry a chore sir!
In my world poetry has a tide beyond my control. But yes, we are all different.
Poetry is never a chore d a, but yesterday I seemed to have lost count of the time.
Poetry is so important and frequent to me.

its ok Andy, in my mind it was meant to be
since the poem you shared today
was worth waiting for, even if our loss
became your inspiration, in the end...
such a relatable wording of that common fear
where we all realise, today is yesterday's tomorrow
and we're still waiting to catch up, with it
while the clock, ticks its way past midnight
too quickly, once again...
a great read, my friend
Thank you for your understanding Mek.

Andy don't feel so bad about it. I was out of station for a week missed all of you. But the way you put it in this beautiful poem is really worth the wait
Thank you for your kind words TKKKK.

Reading this, i have to say, i indeed can relate. And then again, i can say "i'll do this for half an hour," and then ill still be doing it four hours later...i do that a lot more when im writing aha π
So very true, writing can just take the time away which is wonderful.
Andy
Youβre right Andy sounds like a wonderful life!

Busy day, Tis ok! You just have to write two, for the one you missed!
Or say heck with it, and give it a goodbye kiss
Thank you Dove, maybe I'll put two on at once one day, you never know.
Andy
I'll be retired next year Andy. And I can already tell I'll have plenty to keep me busy. Especially poetry. Hope tomorrows a better day for you. π
It is so good to have a busy life once you retire AP, I am sure your retirement will be wonderful as is mine.
Tomorrow is always a better day.
